Join us at Warung Passion, our warung nestled amongst the ricefields near Kaba Kaba, Bali for a 1/2 day cooking adventure in nature.

Your day will start in our garden where Desak will guide and show you the various spices, fruits and vegetables currently being grown and which are used in Balinese cooking as well as how they are harvested and used. For those spices & vegetables ready to be harvested, you and Desak will gather those for cooking.

After the garden it is back to the kitchen where Desak will show you how to prep all the spices & vegetables . After that, we will show you, one on one, how to cook a collection of Balinese dishes including:

  • Dadar Gulung – Balinese pandanus pancakes rolled & filled with ‘unti’ grated coconut in caramelised palm sugar
  • Pepes – fish fillet mixed in mild Balinese spices wrapped in banana leaf & grilled to release the spice fragrance.
  • Sate Lilit – minced fish or chicken mixed with Balinese spices and wrapped around lemongrass sticks and grilled until fragrant and charred.
  • Sambel Matah – Balinese raw relish made from thinly sliced eschallots, birdseye chillies, chopped kaffir lime leaf, chopped fresh lemongrass, grilled shrimp paste, coconut oil, a little bit of salt – mixed in a bowl
  • Jukut Urab – blanched veggies mixed with Balinese spices, grated coconut, fried shallots, salt, and pepper to taste
  • Sweet potato rice
  • Loloh – Balinese herbal drink
  • And more!!
